Dr. Alex Hook
Dr. Hook grew up in Omaha, Nebraska before attending Rockhurst University in Kansas City. As a Hawk, Dr. Hook played basketball while pursuing a biology degree. He returned to Omaha to earn a degree in Dentistry at Creighton University School of Dentistry. He credits his Jesuit education and thoughtful mother with instilling a sense of compassion and duty to care for others. His curiosity and drive to provide the highest quality care paired perfectly with the opportunity he was given to work with Dr. Louise DeFelice in holistic dental care here in Spokane. Now, as a practice owner Dr. Hook has cultivated a practice in which all facets of general dentistry are performed with the finest materials and latest technologies guided by the principles of holistic dentistry. Dr. Hook is a proponent of evaluating lifestyle, hygiene, and diet in addition to health history in order to properly assess and treat oral disease.
In the office you will find that Dr. Hook quickly relieves any stress you may arrive with through his careful listening and sincere and thoughtful communication. He will take the time to work with you in formulating a treatment plan that achieves your goals, and work with you each step of the way to ensure a successful outcome.
Outside the office Dr. Hook spends time with his wife, Dr. Young, and their two young children, two ornery cats, and a fast-growing Leonberger pup. He is an adventure seeker with a love of snowboarding, mountain biking, hiking and live music. Give him new sights, new scents, new sounds; he is an avid explorer!
Dr. ellery young
Dr. Young hails from Sebastopol, a small town north of San Francisco in the heart of apple and wine country. Growing up amidst the apple trees, vineyards and golden rolling hills, Dr. Young’s appreciation of beauty in the natural world and her keen sense of observation developed at an early age. Since childhood she has always enjoyed paints and pastels as a means of reproducing the beauty found in nature. In fact, you will see some of her art in the office! Dr.Young will tell you that dentistry itself involves a great deal of artistry and that it is the combination of the scientific foundation of dentistry, the service to others, and the artistry of dentistry that make it such a rewarding profession. Her older brother, a dentist in Alaska, was instrumental in introducing her to the idea of making it a career and recognizing the artistry and craftsmanship involved.
Dr. Young first fell in love with Spokane while she attended Gonzaga University, graduating with a Biology degree from the Honors College. Upon graduation she moved to Omaha where she earned her dental degree from Creighton University School of Dentistry. As a new dentist, Dr. Young worked in community health dentistry. Here she honed her abilities in urgent care, oral surgery, and those skills foundational to general dentistry. During this time, she developed an interest in, and care philosophy aligned with, the practice of holistic and functional dentistry.
With a full heart, a vision, and immense gratitude she finds herself now working alongside her husband in a practice that reflects their personal values and dental expertise.
Dr. Young takes the time to wholly understand a situation, diagnose, and educate. She is attentive, curious, and authentic in her communication with patients. She believes successful treatment depends on this! You will find that in her care, YOU are a part of the solution and YOUR wellbeing is the priority.
